Saba Health Care Foundation
— enlightening interior concept for upgrade of the hospital
Renovation of hospital built in the early eighties, upgrade to 21 century state of the art hospital in the North-East Caribbean. Interior finishes inspired on the extreme diverse tropical flora and fauna from Saba. From deep sea coral banks to gecko’s on the peak of the mountain, almost 900 meter above sea level.
The former balcony has been transformed into a patio, bringing a strong interior exterior connection, also allowing more daylight into the ward but still enough privacy where the patients stay.
Interior finishes and installations create an airconditioned and dry, sterile environment. The interior light concept creates a homey atmosphere. The beach sand colored floors indicate the public spaces, the Caribbean blue colored floors indicate rooms with more to maximum privacy.
