The 2019 Cargo Master Plan for Port St. Maarten concerns capacity expansion, port operations, post hurricane Irma waste management, and energy transition are developed as one coherent strategy. The plan was developed in close collaboration with David Mock Port Consultant, LLC

Waste is transformed into a resource through an integrated Waste-to-Energy facility, reducing or relieving landfill dependency while generating electricity. The infrastructure for receive waste from other islands is already in place, this could form an additional form of revenue, for the port and the country Sint Maarten.
Renewable energy and waste-derived power are further converted into hydrogen, creating a flexible energy storage system that supports clean transport and port operations, as upcoming fuel for cargo and cruise ships.
By embedding the waste to energy terminal into the landscape, it minimizes visual impact and improves storm resilience.
In this way, cargo, waste, and energy are connected in a closed-loop system. Additional energy is provided by solar parks, build as shading structures over parking, on top of real estate, above walk ways for passengers and maintenance areas at the cargo port.
