2018 – Government Administration Building, Sint Maarten

For the Government Administration Building in Sint Maarten—the first purpose-built state building owned by and for country Sint Maarten— after a contest we were commissioned to design the entrance walk lane, parking layout, and interior lobby.

The building houses multiple ministries and public service desks and, although the main structure was completed prior to 2010, it remained unfinished due to budgetary constraints.

Our proposal establishes a continuous spatial language in which exterior and interior are visually and conceptually connected, reinforcing the building’s public and welcoming character.

The binding element between interior and exterior is a black-and-white patterned lane. Beginning at the site gate, the pattern extends approximately 50 meters, playfully traversing the staircase and continuing into the building.
