Majesty Jewelry occupies a prominent waterfront position at the cruise terminal and is the first building encountered by cruise passengers arriving on Sint Maarten. The design is organized around three arcades, with the two outer arcades turning the corner to create open, inviting edges at the building’s intersections.
These curved corner openings formally reference the bow of the cruise ships docked nearby, reinforcing the building’s direct relationship with its maritime context.
While the retail frontage remains visually open and accessible, the structure is engineered as a highly robust envelope, responding to its exposed oceanfront location and the associated risks of hurricanes and wave action.
The arcaded form also alludes to the multicultural and international heritage of the Dutch West Indies, translating regional identity into architectural expression.
